I’ve posted here a few times, but I became interested in Korea’s traditional martial arts culture after seeing the webtoon ‘Knife Struggle’ by author Go Il-kwon for the first time last year and started digging into it.
It turned out that there were no proper cultural products related to it as expected.
It is a widely known fact that the historical examination of the armor on the Gwanghwamun Yi Sun-sin statue, Myeongryang, and Immortal Yi Sun-sin is incorrect.
I was even saddened to see that the Chinese-made armor of the Eight Banners of the Qing Dynasty was being sold as Yi Sun-sin’s armor.
Meanwhile, I was going on a business trip overseas, so I made a traditional Korean helmet-shaped fur hat to give as a gift for my friend’s baby. However, the business trip was canceled, so I kept it and submitted it to the popular Muuz contest last April. Since it was a seasonal product, I was heartbroken after seeing other people riding the Kadeheon craze and selling out day after day, but finally the cold wind blew and they announced the sale, and I am glad that the response was better than I expected. Some people may feel that the price is a bit high, but I can’t go into detail, but there is a fee for the museum, and in order to deliver it to the museum, it must be produced domestically, so it is difficult to lower the unit price much. However, there are some people who say that the price is acceptable because the quality is good when they actually receive it. Everyone in the business says this, but the margins aren’t that high. But it’s rewarding because the kids have so much fun using it!
I thought that only infants with no ego would be able to wear a hat like this, so I didn’t even think about making it for adults, but when it was released, there were a lot of requests for it to be made for adults.
