Incheon Bupyeong Police Station handed down light punishment to two police officers who let a drug suspect escape.

On the 19th, the Bupyeong Police Station announced that it had held a disciplinary committee meeting and decided to impose light disciplinary action on two people, including Inspector A, for violating the duty of good faith and violating the National Police Agency guidelines.

Inspector A and fellow police officers who were subject to disciplinary action were related to an incident that occurred at a single-family home in Isan-myeon, Yeongju-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do around 11 a.m. on October 13th.

At that time, they were in the process of arresting Mr. B, a man in his 40s, for whom an arrest warrant had been issued on charges of psychotropic drugs and marijuana under the Narcotics Control Act.

It was investigated.

Mr. B was found to have made a request saying, “I don’t want to be seen handcuffed when my parents are in the house.” Afterwards, he told the police officers, “I would say hello to my mother,” and then entered the room and fled through the window.

It is reported that the police officers were waiting outside the room and were not immediately aware of the escape.

The next day, October 14th, at approximately 3:30 p.m., the police re-arrested Mr. B under the hill bridge and sent him to the prosecution under detention.
