According to the Korea Real Estate Agency on the 16th, the cumulative increase in apartment sales prices in Seoul this year as of the second week of this month (as of the 8th) was calculated to be 8.1%. This is the highest annual figure since statistics were compiled in 2012. This is interpreted as the result of a situation where there were great concerns about a decrease in supply since the beginning of the year, and demand was concentrated along the Han River, and as liquidity was released, housing prices continued to rise.
The previous highest was 8.0% recorded in 2018 and 2021. There are still three weekly tallies remaining, but with forecasts suggesting that there is little chance of negative numbers, it is highly likely that this year’s house price growth rate will end at an all-time high.
In particular, apartment prices in Seoul have continued to rise for 45 consecutive weeks since the first week of February this year. In the 3rd week of October, the highest ever weekly increase (0.50%) was recorded.
