The road training you receive when you get your driver’s license changes a lot.

The National Police Agency announced that it will revise the Enforcement Decree and Enforcement Rules of the Road Traffic Act from the middle of this month to eliminate the obligation to visit driving schools and improve the system by lowering tuition fees.

Until now, licensed novice drivers could only receive road training at the driving school after going through the fingerprint registration and application process by visiting the driving school in person, but in the future, instructors will be able to drive the academy vehicle to the location of the student’s choice and provide road training.

The types of vehicles that were previously limited to educational vehicles have been expanded to include a variety of vehicle types, including light, medium, and large vehicles, thereby expanding students’ options.

The cost burden is also expected to decrease.

Currently, the average cost of training is about 580,000 won for 10 hours.

If regulations on instructors and vehicles are relaxed, it is expected that academy operating costs will be reduced and tuition fees will also be lowered.
