Military worker who received 6.8kg of Philopon in a baby formula container… Supreme Court confirms 6 years in prison

1) An American military civilian working at the U.S. military base in Pyeongtaek was sentenced to six years in prison on charges of concealing 6.8 kg of methamphetamine in a powder container using the U.S. military’s private mail.

2) It was investigated that the defendant conspired with two acquaintances to smuggle methamphetamine and had it delivered to his military mailing address from Georgia, USA.

3) The quantity is known to have a wholesale price of approximately 680 million won and a possible number of doses of approximately 130,000 doses, and the delivery arrived at the base on August 23, 2021 and was directly received by the defendant.

4) He was additionally caught possessing and inhaling cocaine at his home in Pyeongtaek in December of the same year, and his claim that he “did not know the contents” was not accepted in the first and second trials based on the circumstances and conduct of the conspiracy.

5) The Supreme Court found that there was no misunderstanding of the law or abuse of discretion in the lower court’s evidentiary judgment and dismissed the appeal, confirming the sentence of 6 years in prison.
