Black Friday 2025 was recorded as another historic day in the video game industry with amazing sales results revealed. The best-selling console during Black Friday week in the United States was the PlayStation 5, accounting for 47% of total hardware sales. The Nintendo Switch 2 was the second best-selling console of the week.
What’s interesting about this console sales report is:
For the first time, Xbox did not make it into the top three.
According to Circana’s Matt Piscatella, NEX Playground took third place with 14% of hardware sales, while Xbox Series X|S fell short. This mini console, which you may not have heard of before, sells for $249 on Amazon and is designed for families to enjoy together in the living room.
NEX Playground is best described as a “Kinect” style console, as all games require you to get up and move, and games such as Fruit Ninja, Starry, Wakamol, Go Keeper, and Party Fall are included in the console.
It feels roughly like a children’s experience game game like Kinect or WII.
