A hairdresser in his 20s was sentenced to a fine after being put on trial on charges of cutting off the earlobe of a customer who was getting a haircut and injuring him with scissors.

On the 6th, Incheon District Court Criminal Judge Yoon Jeong-eun sentenced hairdresser A (24), who was indicted on charges of professional negligence, to a fine of 1 million won.

Mr. A was indicted on charges of cutting the right earlobe with barber scissors while cutting the hair of customer B (44) at a hair salon in Bupyeong-dong, Bupyeong-gu, Incheon, at approximately 5:34 pm on February 26, causing a two-week injury.

The prosecution said that because the blades of the barber scissors were very sharp, Mr. A had a duty of care at work to avoid hurting other people’s ears or skin. The prosecution concluded that Mr. A had neglected this and injured Mr. B, and sent him to trial.

The court also found Mr. A guilty, saying that he was guilty of professional negligence for injuring a customer during a haircut. Judge Yoon said, “Looking at the evidence such as the defendant’s court statement, the victim’s police statement, and medical certificate, he is recognized as guilty,” and added, “If the fine is not paid, Mr. A will be detained in the labor camp for a period of 100,000 won converted to one day.”
