Mr. A was driving at a speed of 130 km/h while violating the traffic signal at an intersection in Buda-dong, Cheonan-si, Chungcheongnam-do, around 8:40 p.m.
He is accused of hitting and killing high school student B who was crossing the street.
After the accident, Mr. A’s vehicle continued driving for about 1.8 km before hitting a telephone pole and stopping.
As a result of the police investigation, Mr. A was found to have drank alcohol in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi-do and then drove about 20km to Cheonan with a blood alcohol content of 0.119%.
The K3 vehicle that caused this incident was uninsured, failed to pay vehicle installments, failed to pay highway tolls, and delinquent local taxes.
It was confirmed that the vehicle was impounded.
