“Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Corporation (KHNP) and Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) have been claiming that ‘export is possible with our own technology,’ but that was not true.” “The preamble to the agreement clearly states that ‘Korean-type nuclear power plants were developed using Westinghouse technology, and Korean-type nuclear power plants will not be exported without complying with US export control procedures.’” KHNP Vice President (acting president) Jeon Dae-wook answered, “Yes.”

When it was pointed out, “”Isn’t your insistence on technological independence deceiving the people? Please apologize.””, the former vice president said, “”There were parts where the term technological independence was used interchangeably, and in reality, there were limits to the export process.”

Regarding the point that it was impossible to advance into Europe except for the Czech Republic under the agreement with Westinghouse, the former vice president admitted, “”It is impossible under the agreement.””
