Watering at a dizzying coastal cliff… Water shortage for soldiers in northwest islands

Soldiers protecting the country in the northernmost part of the West Sea, on the five islands of the West Sea, do not have drinking water, so they drink purified sea water.

However, most of these water supply facilities are located on coastal cliffs, and even these facilities frequently break down, making them dangerous and in poor condition.

The soldiers climb the rocks at a precarious pace.

I feel dizzy even with a rope attached to my body while carrying heavy equipment.

We are working to maintain a water supply facility that draws water for drinking and use by approximately 200 soldiers.

Since it was installed over 12 years ago, it breaks down frequently, and soldiers have to repair it themselves.

I am very worried about the upcoming winter.

[Northwestern Island ▲▲ Provincial Soldier/Voice Modification: “”I can’t even wear gloves. Because this needs to be taped, this is what this guy’s hands look like right now. As you can see, you will see””]

(Water itself does not come out from the water purifier)

Even with difficult repairs, the water supplied is extremely insufficient, and as a result, there is not enough water to purify.

Water purification facilities are also outdated, and in the first half of this year alone, 15 raw water tanks were judged to have inadequate water quality.

Due to a water shortage, people are eating with plastic wrap on their plates to save water for washing dishes.

In addition, living facilities, including toilets, are outdated and broken, requiring major maintenance.
