
Yeongam Police Station in Jeollanam-do announced today (4th) that it is urgently arresting and investigating Mr. A, a ready-mix concrete driver in his 50s, on charges of death by escape under the Aggravated Punishment Act for Specific Crimes.
Mr. A is suspected of hitting and killing Mr. B, a resident in his 70s, while driving a ready-mix concrete vehicle in a vacant lot of a village hall in Seoho-myeon, Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do at approximately 10:47 am yesterday (3rd) and leaving the scene without taking any action.
According to the police investigation, Mr. A was driving his vehicle after supplying concrete to a nearby construction site. It was reported that he entered the vacant lot of the village hall and reversed to get out of the narrow site, causing an accident.
At the time, it was discovered that Mr. B was taking a break from drying rice.
The police dispatched after receiving the report urgently arrested Mr. A at a ready-mix concrete factory in Yeongam about two hours after the incident.
Mr. A is known to be denying the charges, saying, “I was not aware of the accident,” and the police plan to investigate the exact circumstances of the accident and apply for an arrest warrant for Mr. A.
