More than 3,000 households, three apartment complexes built in Geomdan New Town, Seo-gu, Incheon, have been suspended for covering the royal palace landscape under the Cultural Heritage Act. In the worst case scenario, the possibility of an unprecedented situation in which apartments that have already risen to the top floor must be completely demolished cannot be ruled out.
The Cultural Heritage Administration filed a complaint with the police on the 6th against three construction companies, Daebang Construction, Daegwang Construction, and Geumseong Swan, who built apartments near the historic site No. 202 Jangneung in Gimpo. The Cultural Heritage Administration said construction companies did not undergo prior deliberation as they built apartments with up to 25 floors and 3,400 households within a 500m radius of the cultural heritage history and culture environment preservation area. The Cultural Heritage Administration said, “This is the first time a building has been built near the royal tomb in violation of the licensing process.”
