Shorelle
Entering the K-pop industry
Shorel began his K-pop career in 2019 by composing and participating in the 515 Unite event theme song ‘Bang Bang’ for the popular game ‘Mobile Legends’ in Southeast Asia. This project became the opportunity for Shorell to enter the K-pop industry.
Migration to Korea
Shorel, who was born in Italy and studied composition at Falmouth College of Art in London, England, later seized the opportunity to become a K-pop composer and vocal director and moved his career to Seoul. Although the exact timing of the move was not specified, it appears that they began operating in the Korean market in earnest after 2019.
Success in Korea
After moving to Korea, Shorell established herself in the industry by composing songs for major K-pop artists, including BTS, TWICE, Le Serafim, ITZY, Taeyeon, Nayeon, Hyuna, and Oh My Girl. In particular, he worked on a number of commercially successful songs, including Le Seraphim’s “No Celestial” (more than 400,000 copies pre-ordered) and “No Return,” TWICE’s “Crazy Stupid Love,” and Nayeon’s “ABCD” (No. 7 on the Billboard Top Album Sales Chart).
Performance in the Chinese Market
In parallel with its Korean activities, Shorel has also enjoyed great success in the Chinese market. “Sphinx,” written for Chinese idol group THE9, went 3x platinum, selling more than 1 million copies digitally within the first six hours of release, and won Music of the Year at the 2020 Sina Film and Television Festival. The song was also selected as the official anthem of the Chinese women’s volleyball team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
