: He also gave false information to employees of his family’s company: He received money and sold receipts.

This is a church in Imsil, Jeollabuk-do.

Over the past three years, they have cut off 79 donation receipts and reported receiving a total of 154 million won in donations.

However, it was revealed that most of the receipts were issued to employees of the company where the family of church representative Mr. A works.

Person A said he received the donation in cash, but there was no supporting documentation.

[Mr. A/Church representative: I thought there was no such regulation… Church members also personally donated donations in envelopes. That’s because there are no supporting documents.]

There were also places that blatantly took profits.

A local temple was caught by the National Tax Service for issuing 213 false donation receipts worth a total of 508 million won.

They issued multiple receipts for the same amount to many people, and it turned out that they even set up a recruitment book and sold the receipts for a fee when they brought in the personal information of those who needed donation receipts.

Representatives of the organization refused to answer questions during the National Tax Service’s investigation, saying, “I don’t remember” or “It’s my secret.”

Donors are abusing the system by taking advantage of tax benefits, and organizations are taking advantage of extra income such as commissions.

Over the past five years, 880 insincere donation organizations have been caught for issuing false donation receipts or failing to leave supporting documents.

Of these, the National Tax Service disclosed the list according to relevant standards and intensively investigated 199, with mismanaged donations amounting to 46.2 billion won.

[Jeong Il-young/Democratic Party of Korea Representative (National Assembly Strategy and Finance Committee): The donation tax credit system is actually a system for good-intentioned donors. Tens of billions of won in taxes are evaded every year.]

However, the National Tax Service did not provide separate statistics for the remaining 680 places whose names were not made public, and some point out that basic statistics must be thoroughly conducted for accurate management.
