President-elect Donald Trump says he wants service

By doing this, we save TikTok keepit in good

Without U.S. approval, there is no Tik

With our approval, it is worth hundreds of billions of dollars
maybe trillions.
Therefore, my initial thought is a joint venture between the current
owners andlor new owners where by the US gets a 50%

Trump proposes that the US government own 50% of TikTok

Trump has made a bold proposal to restore TikTok.

Yesterday, TikTok’s service was temporarily suspended following the Supreme Court ruling, but Trump said he would postpone it through an executive order immediately after taking office, subject to the sale of operating rights. TikTok is grateful and is in the process of restoring service.

And Trump made an even bolder proposal through his social media account. Rather than simply selling the operating rights to an American company, the plan is to establish a joint venture in which the U.S. government has a 50% stake and acquire TikTok from this new joint venture. He said this would save TikTok and potentially make it worth hundreds of billions to trillions of dollars.

However, the Verge commented that having a joint venture 50% owned by the U.S. government running a service like TikTok (which inevitably involves content censorship) could be a violation of the First Amendment.
