Historic; eccentric and very unpretentious:
come to Jongno 3-gathe heart and soul of
Seoul. You may know the nearby palaces,
leries and other miscellaneous tourist spots,
but this
neighborhood’s real charmsin the
grandfathers huddled around boards of baduk
in Tapgol Park, the cart vendors selling tradi-
tional toffee on Songhae-gil the jewelery shops
for every occasion, the restaurants serving
North Korean food and the many hidden cafes
and beer houses. Jongno 3-gais also home to
Seoul’s vibrant traditional LGBTQ+ district: a
place that has suffered more than most parts of
the city over the past year (you may remember
the horrific stigmatization of Seoul’s gay com
munity in the early days of the outbreak) Now
fantastically the neighborhood is bustling
