An intelligence officer who received a large sum of money and handed over the personal information of overseas black agents to China is sentenced to life imprisonment.

It was revealed that the military prosecutor’s office recently requested a life sentence for Mr. A (50), an intelligence officer, who was arrested and indicted last year on charges of passing personal information of overseas black agents belonging to the Intelligence Command to Chinese intelligence agencies for several years.

The investigative authorities found that Mr. A, who was a team leader-level military official at an intelligence agency, brought classified military documents in the form of loans, collected them without permission, including filming them with a silent camera, and handed them over to Mr. B by uploading them to a cloud server located in China. In return, Mr. A is said to have received 162.05 million won in an account under a borrowed name.

The intelligence agency’s overseas human network suffered a huge blow due to the leak of the identity of the intelligence agency’s black agent, and discussions about organizational reorganization continued. Intelligence Command Commander Moon Sang-ho, who was in charge at the time, was on the verge of dismissal due to this incident, and was arrested and indicted on charges of collaborating with former Intelligence Commander Noh Sang-won and others to help former Minister of National Defense Kim Yong-hyun plot the December 3 emergency martial law. His indictment also clearly stated that this incident was motivated by being captured by martial law forces, including former Minister of National Defense Kim Yong-hyun.
