According to the Metropolitan Police Department, a school employee reported that “a student swung a hammer and injured someone” in a classroom at Hosei University’s Tama Campus in Machida City, Tokyo, before 4 p.m. today. There are a total of 8 injured people, 5 men and 3 women, but they all appear to be in their 20s and all are said to have minor injuries.
This is a video that appears to be from the time of the crime. The person in the center of the screen appears to be holding something in his right hand and swinging it. According to the student who witnessed it, he was in a sociology class at the time.
The Metropolitan Police Department arrested a Korean college student in her 20s who appeared to have swung a hammer on suspicion of causing injury, and a hammer that appeared to be a weapon was reportedly found at the scene.
Also, according to an investigative official, the woman is making statements to the effect that she was harassed.
