Seoul and Jeonbuk are the desired venues for the 2036 Olympics.
Seoul focuses on the creation of the Jamsil MICE Complex and is targeting some sports in conjunction with other local governments (yacht Busan, surfing Yangyang, rowing, canoeing, swimming, soccer, Incheon, Gyeonggi, etc.).
We are also planning to turn archery at Gwanghwamun Square and outdoor swimming at the Han River (triathlon and marathon swimming) into landmarks, and we are considering rebuilding the one used in 1988 rather than building a separate athletes’ village.
Of course, there are quite a few people who don’t think it’s right to do it in Seoul, and there are also many who wish it wouldn’t happen anymore.
In Seoul, there is a lot of past experience and infrastructure that can be recycled, and there are many people who will use it even after the event. (Other countries have also held the Olympics only at large cities.)
Jeonbuk doesn’t have a lot of population and there aren’t enough local teams (thinking about KCC basketball…ㅡㅡ).
The idea of holding the Olympics with as little as 9 trillion won was also pointed out in MBC News… and local residents are also not very keen on it.
No matter how you look at it, it seems like they are trying to raise the value of Saemangeum in some way by using government funds to build road and rail infrastructure.
That damn Saemangeum, both during the jamboree and before, seems like a gyereuk in Jeonbuk. Ha.. Saemangeum.. ㅡㅡ
Jeonbuk is said to be creating a K-pop international school..
The Korean Sports Council’s due diligence has only just begun, but I think the results will be released before spring at the latest. It is said that the final decision will be made in September after the IOC due diligence and verification of the host city are completed.
Governor Kim Kwan-young, please do not run in the next election and let the Democratic Party nominate someone else.
