Why do deers hit cars and become roadkill even when they see them from afar?

Medium-sized herbivores such as elk

If the opponent’s speed is so fast that it is difficult to avoid, choose to wait and then hit them properly.

Turning your back and running away when your opponent is obviously faster than you is nothing more than giving up your back defenselessly.

A car approaching from a distance is often seen as a predator. From the elk’s point of view, the elk thinks that a carnivore is coming at it so fast that it is hunting it.
