Alert: Guidance for US. Citizens Following South Korean President’s Declaration.
The embassy warned, “Even after President Yoon Seok-yeol announced the lifting of martial law, the situation remains fluid,” and “American citizens should prepare for potential chaos.” At the same time, he repeatedly urged caution, saying, “Avoid areas where protests are taking place and be careful near large military commanders, gatherings, demonstrations, or rallies. Even protests with peaceful purposes can turn into confrontations or escalate into violence.”
