Trump-nominated UN ambassador withdraws support for Ukraine’s NATO membership

When Rep. Stefanik was asked whether he still supported Ukraine’s membership in NATO or whether he believed Russia was still carrying out genocide in Ukraine, he refused to answer and appeared to agree with President-elect Trump’s opinions.

This contrasts sharply with its past stance, which actively supported pro-Ukraine legislation, such as military support for Ukraine and sanctions against Russia.

In effect, it withdrew its support for Ukraine.

Previously, Rep. Stefanik urged NATO to accept Ukraine after Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022.

For this reason, his name was added to Russia’s sanctions list in April of the same year.

At the time, he was proud of Russia’s sanctions, calling them “a badge of honor.”
