Shadow of History: The Hidden Truth of Assassination

In the 1977 general election, the Akali Dal, a political party representing the Sikhs’ position, won the majority in the Punjab political party. The Prime Minister, who could not tolerate this, supported Bindnawale in order to induce their division.

However, Bindniwale’s relationship with the prime minister begins to sour as he causes a riot due to a conflict with another religion. Bandniwale, who was arrested for this incident, gathers his supporters and forms an anti-state group. The operation created to suppress this would be called ‘Blue Star’.

The problem is that these operations were justified, and the Indian army began massacring Sikhs who were not related to the anti-government forces, bringing in tanks and helicopters and shooting indiscriminately, while raping women and killing children as young as 18 years old as well as children from 2 to 16 years old. They are considered terrorists and shot to death.

Because all the bodies were burned after the massacre, it was difficult to determine the exact number of victims (roughly hundreds to thousands).

As time passed, Prime Minister Indara Gandhi was assassinated in 1984.

The assassination was the work of her bodyguards, but surprisingly, the bodyguards were Sikhs.

Because Sikhs are thorough in self-management, have a strong professional spirit, and accept death in any form as their fate, they are popular as soldiers, police, and bodyguards as they are willing to sacrifice their lives for others at any time.

The prime minister may have trusted them too much, but without thinking much about it, he assigned the Sikhs, who had killed hundreds to thousands of people, as bodyguards, and ended up being assassinated.
