Women’s U-15 national team players starting in the first match of the EAFF U-15 Women’s Championship against Chinese Taipei.

The women’s U-15 national team got off to a good start by defeating Chinese Taipei in the first game of the EAFF U-15 Women’s Championship.

The women’s U-15 national team benefited from Joan (Ulsan Hyundai Cheongwoon Middle School)’s winning goal in the 6th minute of the second half in the first match (35 minutes of each half) of Group A against Taiwan at the 2024 EAFF U-15 Women’s Championship held in Dalian, China on the 16th. Wear and won 1-0. Lee Da-young, former coach of the Korea Football Association, is the coach of the women’s U-15 national team for this tournament.

Korea, which won the first game, continues the remaining schedule by facing Japan on the 18th, North Korea on the 20th, and China on the 25th.

Korea went out in a 4-4-2 formation. Ha Eun-jae (Jinju Girls’ Middle School) and Kim Hee-jin (Yesung Girls’ Middle School) formed the top two, with Joan and Choi Seo-yeon (Yesung Girls’ Middle School) on both sides. The midfield was formed by Chu Ji-yeon and Ko Ji-eun (Ulsan Hyundai Cheongwoon Middle School), and the back four was Park Na-young, Jeon A-hyeon, Kang Gyu-eun (Ulsan Hyundai Cheongwoon Middle School), and Kim Min-seo (Yesung Girls’ Middle School). The goal was guarded by Lee Seung-ah (Ulsan Hyundai Cheongwoon Middle School).

With both teams ending the first half without scoring, Korea opened the second half. In a corner kick situation in the 6th minute of the second half, Joan’s neat header aimed at the corner of the goal gave the team the first goal, which ended up being the winning goal.

The 2024 EAFF U-15 Women’s Championship will be held in Dalian, China from August 14th to 26th. All 10 member countries of EAFF, including Korea, Japan, North Korea, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Guam, Mongolia, Macau, and the Northern Mariana Islands, are participating.

Participating countries will be organized into Group A, with the five highest-ranking teams in Group A and the five lowest-ranking teams in Group B, according to the FIFA women’s soccer rankings, and play four group matches per team. The winning team will not be determined separately, but a promotion system will be applied, so the lowest ranked team from Group A will move to Group B for the next competition, and the top team from Group B will move to Group A for the next competition.
