The men’s under-18 (U-18) national team will participate in the 2024 SBS Cup International Youth Soccer Tournament held in Shizuoka, Japan from the 20th to the 26th.
Four teams will participate in this tournament, including the Korean U-18 national team, Argentina U-18 national team, Japan U-18 national team, and Shizuoka U-18 selection team. Each team will play three games in a round-robin format, with each match lasting 80 minutes, 40 minutes in the first half and 40 minutes in the second half.
Korea will play against Japan’s U-18 national team on the 22nd and Argentina’s U-18 national team on the 23rd, then take a day off before facing Shizuoka’s U-18 selection team on the 25th.
This national team is composed of players born in 2006. The Korea Football Association decided to participate in this tournament to accumulate international game experience for 18-year-old players, who are one year younger than the current 19-year-old national team players, ahead of the AFC U-20 Asian Cup and next year’s FIFA U-20 World Cup. Coaches Son Seung-jun and Lee Chang-hyun, former coaches of the Korea Football Association, will lead the team.
The U-18 national team will leave the country immediately upon convocation on the 20th, play the tournament, and return home on the 26th.
