On the day of Liberation Day, August 15, KBS will additionally organize the 1TV program ‘Independent Cinema’ and air a documentary film on the controversy over the glorification of former President Syngman Rhee. It was confirmed that the film applied to the Korean Film Council for recognition as an independent film, but was rejected for reasons such as “a character documentary lacking objectivity.” There are continued calls both inside and outside KBS to withdraw the decision to air the movie.
