In the drama Jumong, which aired on MBC TV from 2006 to 2007, the Iron Banner Army of the Han Dynasty appears as a powerful enemy threatening the main character Jumong and his group.

However, this is a fiction shown in the drama; in reality, there was no iron army in the Han Dynasty where both men and horses wore armor like that.

So what did the real Han cavalry look like? It looks like this.

This is the real cavalry that was active during the Han Dynasty.

As you can see, they are dressed much more lightly than the Han Dynasty iron soldiers in the drama Jumong.

In fact, the Huns, the biggest enemies of the Han Dynasty, were a nimble, horse-riding nomadic people. In order to catch up with the Xiongnu, the Han Dynasty had to use light cavalry as its main force, rather than a cumbersome army like the Iron Banner Army in the drama Jumong.
