French immigration status

()

To commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-day, a parachute event was held in France.

To commemorate the airborne operation 80 years ago, 400 British, American and Belgian paratroopers descended on the island.

However, after the drop was over, French immigration officers and customs officials set up a table and asked the British soldiers to submit their passports, fill out an immigration form, and report to customs.

U.S. soldiers entered France, boarded a plane, and parachuted, so there was no need for such procedures, and Belgium was a member of the EU and the Schengen Agreement, so no procedures were needed.

Mark Berry, commander of the British 16th Air Assault Brigade, who participated in the event, said this had never happened before.  Even though the UK is not a member of the Schengen Agreement, it was given convenience because it is a member of the EU, but now that it has left due to Brexit, it seems to be following the principle.
