Two Russian SU-27s operating in the Black Sea took threatening actions, such as deliberately spraying fuel on U.S. MQ-9 reefer drones, and later a collision between SU-27 and drones appeared to have damaged the propeller.
The propeller-damaged reefer drone cannot be operated, so the U.S. military shoots it down.
The U.S. Air Force said in a statement.
“Our MQ-9 aircraft was intercepted by a Russian aircraft while conducting routine operations in international airspace and crashed, resulting in total loss of the MQ-9.”
Indeed, the unsafe and unprofessional conduct of the Russians nearly brought both aircraft down.
Before the crash, Russian aircraft sprayed fuel in a reckless, environmentally inappropriate and unprofessional manner.
