(2)Measures to ease regulations are being pursued. The Ministry of Education announced on the 8th that it is seeking to revise laws to expand the scope of facilities that can be installed on university campuses to generate profits, which were previously included in the Ministry’s 2023 Major Work Plan and reported to President Yoon Suk Yeol on the 5th. At the time, the Ministry of Education said, “We will come up with support measures to help universities generate profits through various channels other than tuition fees by increasing the profitability of idle property.”

(2)It is stipulated in the “Rules on the Determination, Structure, and Installation Standards of Urban/Gun Planning Facilities”, which are Ordinance of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. According to Article 90 (1) of the Regulation, universities can install rest restaurants and sports facilities under 300㎡ in addition to education and research facilities. In the future, the Ministry of Education will discuss with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to expand the scope of facilities.
