Employees’ Unique Ideas to Recover Pohang Steelworks

()

The employees came up with the idea of using electric vehicle batteries as power sources
Kim Tae-woo, deputy director of the 2nd steel plant, connected his electric vehicle battery and temporarily supplied electricity to the factory to light the fire
Using the cells of employees who own electric cars, they operated underwater pumps and connected power to small pumps to conduct drainage work even when electricity was cut off
Kim Tae-woo said, “We used electric vehicle batteries to operate drainage pumps during the day and light up office lights at night,” adding, “When the battery was discharged, the car was recharged at a nearby charging station, which was a great help in urgent situations.”

Kim Tae-bok, manager of Irax, a partner company specializing in air conditioner maintenance, came up with the idea of drying substrates in air conditioners using a pepper dryer
He brought a pepper dryer, an agricultural machine he used at his hometown, installed it on one side of an electricity repair plant and built a control board in large quantities
Thanks to this, employees focused on cleaning substrates during the day and put substrates in a pepper dryer to dry them in bulk at once, breaking away from the inefficient method of manually washing and drying substrates one by one
The substrate placed in the pepper dryer was dried up the next morning, so the facility drying efficiency increased
