Oliver teacher, why can’t we say thank you in English?

As we always say to eat with others, thank you for the food! That expression
Strangely enough, it is not in English
How come?

But if you want to talk about it before you eat with a foreigner, use the expressions above
Then why isn’t there an expression like, “Thank you for the food!” in the US?
It’s almost natural to use it in the East, but it’s also used in Spain and France
