All forms of violence are poisonous and destructive. My behavior at the Academy Awards last night was unacceptable and unforgivable. Jokes about me are part of my job, but I responded emotionally to jokes about Jada’s health condition.
I want to apologize to Chris openly. I crossed the line and I’m sorry. I was ashamed of my actions, and these actions were not the actions of the person I wanted to be. Violence should not exist in the world of love and kindness.
Also, I would like to apologize to all participants and audiences around the world for the Academy show’s the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams family and the King Richard family. I am deeply sorry that my actions have stained the wonderful journey for all of us.
