It’s an article, but it’s a good article, so I think it’d be good to read it together.
According to the article, the outlook for Samsung’s smartphone is not so bright.
Below is a partial quotation from the conclusion of the article.
①I chose TSMC instead of Qualcomm Samsung.②Samsung’s own chipset! Exynos! Fail!
What the GOS situation really represents
The GOS crisis, of course, will affect Samsung’s credibility, but it symbolizes a deeper crisis.
Samsung’s market share and market dominance in the mobile market are gradually decreasing. The simple market share is still the world’s No. 1, but the gap with Apple is widening in terms of sales and operating profit. Beyond the difference between subjective loyalty and user experience, Samsung is now lagging behind in hardware performance.
On the other hand, the foundry market is having a hard time narrowing the gap with TSMC, which needs to be followed. They are competing in the same 4-nano process, but there is a big gap in !yield! that produces products without defects, so they are losing more and more customers. Its own chipsets are also losing their competitiveness and production is decreasing.
So apologizing for the GOS situation and stepping back won’t solve much, if you can’t overcome this fundamental loss of competitiveness, you won’t come back.
