(Beijing = Yonhap News) Correspondent Seongjo Jeong = While U.S. President Donald Trump mentioned that he was considering ‘strong options’ in relation to the anti-government protests in Iran, China expressed its position that the United States should not interfere in its internal affairs.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maoning said at a briefing on the 12th, “We have consistently opposed interference in the internal affairs of other countries and insisted that each country’s sovereignty and security should be adequately protected,” and “We have also opposed the use or threat of use of force during international relations.”
Spokesperson Mao then added, “I hope that each country will do a lot of things that are beneficial to peace and stability in the region.”
Spokesperson Mao responded this way to a question about how he viewed President Trump’s suggestion of the possibility of military intervention in the Iranian uprising that has spread across the country.
