[Elon Musk warns of another population cliff in Korea]
In a podcast interview with American entrepreneur Peter Diamandis, Tesla CEO Elon Musk again mentioned Korea as “the most serious example of a population cliff problem in the world.”
While talking about population and lifespan expansion, Musk cited “adult diapers selling more than baby diapers” as one of the signs that a country is not taking the right path, and said that Korea had already surpassed that point several years ago.
In addition, based on Korea’s replacement fertility rate (total fertility rate necessary to maintain the population), the population could decrease to 1/27th after three generations, reaching about 3% of the current size. He also made radical expressions such as “North Korea does not need to invade, they can just walk in.”
