– Currently (2026.01.08) the U.S. Supreme Court’s hearing on Trump’s tariff policy is in progress.

– Bloomberg News reports that more than 1,000 companies have filed lawsuits for tariff refunds in the U.S. As of the 6th, a total of 914 lawsuits for tariff refunds have been filed.

– Almost all lawsuits will be filed after November 2024. The Supreme Court will begin oral arguments in this lawsuit challenging the legality of tariffs on the 5th of that month.

– The U.S. Supreme Court announced a ruling on a major case on January 9, 2024, raising speculation that it may be a tariff ruling.

– Among the companies involved in the lawsuit, there are subsidiaries of foreign companies such as Japan and China.

– Bloomberg News interprets these companies’ lawsuits as a preemptive measure in case the Supreme Court determines the tariffs are illegal.

– Tariffs collected by the Trump administration after announcing the reciprocal tariff policy in April 2025 amounted to $133 billion (approximately 193 trillion won) as of December 14, 2025.
