For a very long time, buying and owning your own home was considered the pinnacle of the American dream. It was a reward for working hard and living well, but now, with record high prices brought about by Joe Biden and congressional Democrats, that dream is becoming increasingly distant for too many, especially young Americans.

For those reasons and more, I am taking immediate action to prohibit large institutional investors from purchasing additional single-family homes, and I will be calling on Congress to enact it. A house should be lived in by people, not by businesses. I will discuss this topic in a speech in Davos in two weeks, including proposals for additional housing supply and relief from housing costs.
