A line was drawn against criticism that the National Pension Service was being used to undermine the rate of return on people’s retirement funds. Governor Lee said, “The National Pension Service has not taken into account costs such as the difficulty of getting a job in our country or the burden on importers due to the rising exchange rate.”
He added, “Seohak Ant also decided that it was reasonable to go overseas as the domestic stock market was stagnant for a long time.” He added, “The National Pension Service may be rational individually if it pursues only returns without considering macroscopic impacts, but it cannot necessarily be considered rational when viewed as a country as a whole.”
