The law was originally introduced in 1953 with the intention of minimizing state intervention in family disputes, but it was abolished due to so many abuse cases.
Rather than saying that it was abolished because of Park Soo-hong’s family, it is said that there have been large and small cases of abuse in the meantime, and the incident with Park Soo-hong’s family became a proper trigger and led to its abolition.
