An incident occurred in Hanoi, Vietnam, in which a son jumped from the balcony of a 28th-floor apartment after being scolded by his father.
The student, who said, “I’ve been thinking about it for a long time,” was attending Amsterdam High School, a prestigious public high school in Hanoi, and the incident occurred around 3:34 a.m. on the 1st.
At the time, the father scolded the student, saying, “Why haven’t you done your homework since the afternoon? Do it right now.” As the student stood in front of the desk, he continued to nag, saying, “I don’t even know what comes first and what comes last.”
Accordingly, the student moved to the balcony, and although his father asked him, “Where are you going?”, he ignored him and went out onto the balcony and sat on a chair.
The student leaned out from the balcony on the 28th floor and said, “Dad, look at my notes.” While his father was reading the notes, he closed the balcony door, put one foot on a chair, and threw himself over the railing.
My father was surprised at the moment he jumped and ran towards me, calling my name, but he had already disappeared from sight.
Afterwards, he cried, “My son jumped,” and went out to look for his son with a woman who appeared to be his wife.
Before the incident, the student wrote, “I am sorry for all the outrageous things I have done or will do in the future,” “My mother is devoted, but she always makes wrong choices and overreacts,” “I feel like my opinion doesn’t matter,” and “This will be the end. Goodbye. Life is like a joke.”
This video caused a great shock as it spread through social media and online communities, and the controversy grew further when it became known that CCTV had been installed to monitor learning.
