According to the legal community on the 18th, the 14th Criminal Division of the Incheon District Court (Chief Judge Son Seung-beom) sentenced Mr. A to 27 years in prison at the sentencing hearing that day.
The court also ordered Mr. A to wear an electronic location tracking device for 15 years after his release from prison.
Mr. A murdered Mr. B, a woman in her 30s who was living with him in a studio apartment in January 2021. Afterwards, it was found that he hid the crime for a long time, including using detergent and air freshener to prevent odor from Mr. B’s body.
The murder case came to light when Mr. A was arrested on charges of fraud and other crimes and was unable to take care of the body.
In July of last year, the building manager reported a foul odor coming from a room where the occupants could not be contacted, and Mr. B’s body was found at the scene.
It was confirmed that Mr. A met Mr. B in Japan, and it was investigated that he committed the crime on the day of the incident while arguing with Mr. B, who said, “I will go back to Japan.”
