Mr. Kim died during a battle with Russian troops in Nova Poltauka, Donetsk Oblast, as a member of the International Volunteer Force in May 2025.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been notified of the death by Ukraine and is providing consular assistance to the bereaved family.
The body is scheduled to be extradited to Korea. It is estimated that seven Koreans have died in action in Ukraine so far.
