France ranked overwhelmingly first, and there were many complaints about the unfriendly attitude in Paris, such as being ignored when speaking English or correcting pronunciation but not giving directions. There were also reports of some service workers yelling at customers.
Second place was Morocco. Local experiences of being physically touched by a child or being stoned on a bus were shared, and persistent solicitation of customers was also pointed out as a cause of inconvenience.
Russia took third place. Travelers described the blunt atmosphere of the streets, saying, “If you smile on the street, you look suspicious.” There was also an extreme case where an illness was reported at a concert venue.
In fourth place was China, where many people testified that they had experienced an impatient attitude, especially in Beijing.
Turkey, ranked 5th, also received reviews that it treated foreigners coldly at places such as Istanbul Airport.
The United States, ranked 6th, was evaluated as unfriendly due to strict immigration screening and extreme differences in attitudes between regions.
Seventh place was the United Kingdom, where London received harsh criticism for being the so-called “capital of grumblers,” and one traveler said that “Paris actually felt kinder to me” because of his experience in London.
Spain, ranked 8th, continued to share its experience of being ignored in the capital city of Madrid.
In Italy, which ranked 9th, the response was mainly unfriendly in Rome and the northern region, but there were also reviews saying that they received a warm welcome in the south.
Lastly, Estonia was ranked 10th. Travelers said that most of the locals were cold and blunt, and there were testimonies that, across the sea, in nearby Finland, they “met the kindest people in my life,” creating a dramatic contrast.
