Korea Express will gradually introduce a five-day workweek system starting next month. While the issue of the working environment for delivery drivers has become an issue, the approach is to reduce risks through a preemptive five-day workweek system.
According to the industry on the 4th
Korea Express has implemented a 5-day workweek system for medium-sized and larger dealerships starting in December, while aiming to completely convert all dealerships to a 5-day workweek system by the first half of next year. The comprehensive shift to a 5-day workweek system will affect the entire delivery industry.
Korea Express is the first.
Korea Express has instructed each branch to establish a specific implementation plan. The agency must specify in its plan the agency type classification and the timing of implementing the 5-day workweek system.
First, starting next month, agencies with 20 or more drivers will begin to introduce a five-day workweek system.
The ‘five-person team’ system is being discussed as a work system for introducing the five-day workweek. This is a method of organizing 4 knights and 1 backup knight into one unit. On Tuesdays, when volume is high, all five drivers work, and from Wednesday to Saturday, one person each takes a break. On Sundays and Mondays, when volume is low, two people work and three people rest.
