Anatoly Bugorsky
A person who puts his head into a particle accelerator while servicing it without knowing it was turned on and is hit by a particle traveling at the speed of light.
His left eye and ear were permanently damaged, but he miraculously survived.
Bugorsky himself was banned from revealing the story as it was a top secret in the Soviet Union.
It was only after it was declassified in 1990 that the story was released.
