Nocturne by the Sea (1913)
This painter from Austria failed the art college exam, taught himself how to draw after high school, and made a living by selling postcards.
This work was painted during the final period of the artist’s career, and was discovered decades after the artist’s death. It surprised people with its significantly improved form compared to the artist’s previous works.
However, it is said that the artist quit painting immediately after painting this painting, which clearly improved, and later committed suicide.
