Jiliang Office “Half of men in their 30s and 50s are obese”

Half Korean men in their 30s and 50s were obese. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced the ‘2024 National Health and Nutrition Survey’. It surveyed 10,000 people in 192 regions nationwide.

The ratio of obesity with a body mass index (divided by BMI and weight into height square) in adults aged 19 or older increased by 3.2 percentage points to 48.8%for men. Men’s obesity rate is 61.7%, up 11.5% from the previous year. Men’s obesity rate is 49.1%and men in their 50s are 48.1%.

Female obesity rate was 26.2%, down 1.6 percentage points from the previous year. Women’s obesity rate in their 30s decreased by 2.7 percentage points to 24.6%. Women’s obesity rate in their 40s is 25.7%and women in their 50s are 27.9%.

The average daily energy intake of our people was 1865㎉ (kilocalori), similar to the previous year. However, the energy intake of men in their 30s and men in their 50s increased 114㎉ and 168.9㎉, respectively.

Both men and women have reduced fruit intake and increased meat intake. “In particular, the intake of male meat in their 30s and 50s has increased,” he said.
