Potala Palace in Tibet

The original building was built over 1,400 years ago, but its current appearance came after it was expanded with support from the Qing Dynasty.

It boasted an enormous scale both before and after the expansion, making it the largest single building in East Asia before the modern era.

As a side note, it was almost destroyed by the Red Guards during the Cultural Revolution.
