(1)Prosecutor-turned-lawyer Chung Soon-shin stepped down as the second head of the National Investigation Headquarters a day after his son’s school violence, but criticism poured into the online community of Seoul National University, where Chung’s son attends, on the 27th.

(3)A Seoul National University student criticized the decision-making system, saying, “The system of selecting people only by examination should be abolished.” Some 50 people sympathized when another post said, “Are you sure you are a Seoul National University student?” and “If you are an alumnus, you should be expelled.”
(4)Lawyer Chung’s son was forced to transfer in 2017 after he was admitted to verbally abuse his classmate for several months while attending a self-reliant private high school. The victim reportedly failed to have a normal academic life, such as trying to choose a theater company due to mental pain.
(5)However, Chung later filed a lawsuit to cancel the disciplinary action and lost after a legal battle to the Supreme Court following the first and second trials. Since then, Chung has reportedly entered Seoul National University through regular admission in 2020.
(6)Chung’s ruling also said that his father knew lawyer Chung, who was then an incumbent prosecutor, but he said he would win the trial unconditionally if he was close to the judge.
(7)A Seoul National University student criticized that his son’s school violence was not a decisive problem, but that he used the prosecutor’s status and legal skills to neutralize school violence and get him into college.

(10)According to the 2020 regular admission regulations, when lawyer Chung’s son entered Seoul National University, the CSAT-oriented general admission reflects 100 CSAT scores. Disciplinary action is a reason for deduction of points, but if the final score, including the CSAT score, is higher than the passing line, it is reported that the decision will not be made.
